Hi girls! I'm a brand new member here, I read most of the complaints about Mary Kay, and decided I'm going to share my experience so far.
I signed up and bought my starter kit almost immediately after hearing the business plan. I knew right away I wouldn't let anyone talk me into doing more than I was willing to. I talked it over with my husband before purchasing anything. He agreed to the initial inventory order of $600 (I think... it may have only been $300, I don't really remember any more) So far I've done pretty good selling to friends and family. I have one extremely good customer who loves the products so much, she keeps buying Miracle Sets for her friends! My whole thing is, I'm not worried about "moving up" in the company at all, & don't care what my director says. I'm having fun selling a little here and there. I don't need a Mary Kay car to do that. Like a few of you have already said, there are good and bad people in every company, and you just have to make the best of it. Don't let them badger you into doing anything you don't want to do. Use your starter kit to let people try the products, and order them what they want. MOST people are willing to pay up front and wait for the product. Make sure you give them a reciept stay honest! I have used my profits to order a product people are asking about, let them try mine in their own home, then order them their own!
Bottom line, you DO have to do a little bit of work, and you DON'T have to be pushed around by a greedy DIQ or Director.
Sorry if this seemed to ramble, I'm sleepy lol!
